Jindal Shadeed inaugurates its newly expanded steel complex
Jindal Shadeed Iron & Steel (JSIS), part of the USD18bn Indian steel conglomerate O P Jindal Group, on Sunday inaugurated the newly expanded, state of the art integrated steel complex at the Sohar Industrial Port. The steel complex includes the GCC’s largest capacity electric arc furnace of SMS and rebar mill and would strengthen domestic production capacity, which is vital to Oman’s industrial growth. Jindal Shadeed has made a capital investment of over USD1bn to expand the integrated steel complex. The 2mn tones per annum (MTPA)-capacity steel melt shop was commissioned in April 2014. The rebar mill with a capacity of 1.4MTPA, is the latest addition to the complex, which was commissioned in January 2016. (Muscat Daily)
