Ministry of Trade says new registration system complies with WTO regulations
Egypt’s new registry for manufacturers exporting a number of final goods to Egypt does not violate World Trade Organization rules or Egypt’s commitment to other trade agreements, a representative of the Trade and Industry Ministry said in a press conference. The regulations resonate with the those in the European Union which set stringent quality and safety conditions for exporters of goods into the EU, First Deputy Saeed Abdullah said. The Ministry has enacted several measures to facilitate registration, he said, including allowing a manufacturer’s sales and marketing representatives in Egypt to register on a company’s behalf, allowing registration in multiple branches of the General Authority for Export and Import Control, and requiring at least an ISO-certification or its equivalent.
