GB Auto in talks with government on plot of land for tires and Tuk-tuks production facility
GB Auto is in talks with the government regarding the acquisition of a plot of land for the establishment of two production facilities for three wheelers (tuk-tuks) and automotive tires, according to its head of corporate finance, Menna Sadek. Earlier this month, it announced investments in the tire production facility would be worth EGP1.8 billion, whereas the tuk-tuk assembly and motorcycle facility will see investments of USD50 million. In the meantime, GB had commenced the production of tul-tuk spare parts at its production facility in Badr city, in order to smoothly start tuk-tuk production once the new facility is ready. Moreover, GB finalised its agreement with Bajaj with regards to technological know-how for tuk-tuk and motorcycle production. Additionally, GB is in negotiations with the Asian company owning the tires brand, for the local production rights. (AL Mal)
