Ford postpones its visit to Egypt after GM’s crisis
Ford Motors decided to postpone its visit to Egypt, which was scheduled on 14 February 2016 to explore the opening of an assembly facility, in the same week that General Motors’(GM) assembly plant was shut down on the back of the FX crunch. According to Adel Badeer, head of the Transportation Division of the Federation of Egyptian Industries, Ford gave no reasons for its decision, however, GM’s plant shutdown may have affected the company’s sudden decision to postpone the visit. On another note, Badeer added that car prices have risen by 5% in the domestic market since the beginning of 2016 due to lower supply volumes, which is the result of declining imports and dollar shortage for local factories.
