Etihad Rail suspends tender of Stage Two of the rail project
Etihad Rail, the developer of the UAE’s national rail network said that it has suspended tendering process for Stage Two of the project. All the bidders have been informed in writing according to the company. Stage Two involved construction of rail network in Abu Dhabi by connecting to Saudi border at Ghweifat and Omani border at Al Ain. The tracks were also supposed to connect areas such as Mussafah, Khalifa Port and Jebel Ali Port in Dubai. The company said that it is reviewing most appropriate options for timing and delivery of Stage Two. Etihad Rail further stated that the decision will have no impact on Stage One. Earlier this month Etihad Rail cut almost a third of its workforce. (Bloomberg)
