Electricity Ministry in final stage of agreement for Al Nowais to build a coal-powered plant
The Electricity Ministry is in the final stages of completing an agreement with Al Nowais Investments to build a coal-powered plant in Eyoun Moussa. The US consultant office Black and Veatch was chosen to review the technical, financial and legal offer proposed by Al Nowais in addition to the Purchase Power Agreement (PPA). In September 2015, the Egyptian Electricity Holding Company had signed a MoU with Al Nowais to build a 2,640 MW coal-powered plant. According to the offer, the project will be carried out on a BOO basis with the first phase being completed through two generation units with a capacity of 660 MW each. (Al Borsa)
