The Central Bank of Egypt (CBE) is reviewing the banking law of 2003 to be in line with developments in the financial sector, state-run Middle East News Agency (MENA) reported, citing Deputy Governor Gamal Negm without further details. CBE is reportedly also reevaluating the performance of management of local banks. The results of these reviews will be a key factor in determining whether CBE would approve term renewals for banks’ executives. (Bloomberg)
