Yields on three and nine-month T-bills drop at auction

Yields on Egypt's three-month and nine-month treasury bills fell at an auction on Sunday, Finance Ministry data showed. The average yield on Egypt's 91-day bill dropped to 12.950% versus 13.217% at the last sale on March 27. The yield on the 273-day bill fell to 13.964% from 14.260% at a similar auction on 27 March. The fall in yields comes as no surprise in light of the revised issuance schedule of government securities by the Ministry of Finance, which cancelled usual auctions on longer tenures, likely to avoid locking higher interest costs for longer maturities, thereby focusing liquidity on short-term tenures and leading yields to drop.
