Six of 14 new cement licences will be for coal-powered plants

The Ministry of Trade and Industry will issue 14 new cement licences, as announced earlier this week, with six designated for  coal-powered plants, mostly in Upper Egypt and remote governorates, according to Minister Tarek Kabil. The six coal-powered plants are expected to operate in line with environmental regulations, Kabil added. The new cement licences, worth EGP55 million each, will be sold to companies that would provide an energy source for the plants, earlier articles stated. (Al Masry Al Youm)
