Saudi Arabia mulls economic cities near Jeddah, Riyadh airports
A new committee formed by the Saudi Council of Economic and Development Affairs, is mulling building two economic cities near Riyadh’s King Khaled International Airport (KKIA) and Jeddah’s King Abdulaziz International Airport (KAIA). The feasibility and operational model of the project is being studied by the committee and international consulting firm, Oliver Wyman, Saudi media reported, citing unnamed sources close to the matter. The committee will consider linking KAIA’s economic city with King Abdullah Finance Center via the Riyadh metro or other means of transportation. Data is still being collected about the urban planning of both cities, sources added. The committee includes representatives from seven different ministries and government bodies. (Argaam)
