Rabigh Refining and Petrochemical Company (Petrorabigh)[2380.SE] has announced that it has completed the mechanical works for the expansion of its ethane cracker to raise its capacity by an additional 30 million standard cubic feet per day (MMCFD) and raising the processing capacity to 125 MMCFD and production capacity to 1.6 million tonnes per year (mtpa) from 1.3 mtpa. According to the announcement, the new capacity will be utilized once full ethane gas allocation is provided from the relevant sources, while Petrorabigh expects that the estimated financial impact of the new capacity will amount to SAR750 million in 2016.
