National Authority for Tunnels receives submissions for Metro Line 4
The National Authority for Tunnels (NAT) has received submissions to prequalify from a number of contractors and suppliers for the four packages to construct the first phase of the Cairo Metro’s Line 4. Two firms submitted prequalification documents for each of the two civil works packages, namely Shimizu Corporation and a consortium of Taisei Corporation and local contractor Orascom Construction (OC). Four firms were prequalified for the rail systems package, namely: i) Mitsubishi Corporation / OC JV; ii) Marubeni; iii) Hitachi / Sumitomo JV; and iv) Toyo / Mitsui JV. Two firms (Sojitz and Mitsubishi) were prequalified for the supply of the rolling stock. Line 4 will be constructed over two phases and will run for 43 km from West to East Cairo. (MEED)
