Mauritius in talks with DP World to become a trading hub
Mauritius is in discussions with port operator DP World about developing logistics and shipping facilities as the island nation looks to expand its economy beyond tourism. Mauritius’ President Ameenah Gurib-Fakim said that they are seeking to exploit the island country’s position between Africa, Asia and the Middle East. An accord would help diversify the economy of Mauritius, located about 2,000 kilometers (1,200 miles) off the African coast, and would add another base for Dubai’s DP World, one of the largest port operators with 70 terminals stretching from Sydney to Vancouver.
