Industrial Development Authority releases terms and conditions for issuance of new cement licences

The Industrial Development Authority (IDA) has released new conditions booklets, for new cement licences in nine governorates including Upper Egypt, Matrouh and South Sinai, Al Borsa reports. Under these conditions, companies must have a minimum capital of EGP50 million and submit letter of guarantees worth EGP150 million. In order to bid for two licences, companies are required to have a market share of 25% or more. Sources reported that under the new terms for cement licences, companies are obliged to establish power plants to supply power for their production facilities at their own expenses, and to re-examine the environmental impact of their projects in order to obtain the approval of the Ministry of Environment. Bids for the new licences will be submitted from 10 February to 10 May, with approved applicants expected to be announced in July 2016. The price of the new licences will not be announced until 10 February 2016 and will differ depending on the governorate. (Al Borsa)
