Ford to assemble two models locally, outsource production for the mean time
Ford is reported to be in the process of assembling two of its passenger car models locally through an agreement with an established assembler that currently has facilities in Egypt. Among the candidates are Bavarian Auto, Suzuki Egypt, Nissan Motors Egypt and Arab Organization for Industralization (AOI), according to sources as quoted by Al Mal. The technical studies for locally assembling the vehicles are nearly completed and have bene ongoing for over a year, the article added. The company will outsource its production by using unutilised production capacity by a local producer, which should later help finance the establishment of a new facility. This strategy is being adopted by other automotive players, the source added, pointing out that Ford had already decided on the two models that will be locally assembled, but added no further details.
