Egyptian Electricity Transmission Company signs USD250 million substation contract with GE; three additional energy agreements signed post Hollande’s visit to Egypt

The Egyptian Electricity Transmission Company (EETC) signed a contract worth USD250 million with GE, whereby GE will provide advanced grid solutions technologies to substations located in Mostathmereen, Beni Suef Industrial, Ismailia East and Temay Alemdeed. The four gas-insulated substations will help connect 7 GW of power to reinforce Egypt’s national grid. The contract is part of the Protocol of Cooperation signed during the French Presidential visit to Egypt and is expected to be completed by the end of 2017. Other energy agreements signed after the French Presidential visit include one with the French Development Agency (AFD) to establish a regional control center in Delta worth EUR50 million of investments to be repaid over 15 years with an annual interest of 1.2%. Egypt has also signed a memorandum of understanding  (MoU) with the AFD for a 200 MW wind station in Suez worth EUR50 million. Another MoU was signed with Schneider Electric to build a 40 MW solar energy station in South Sinai worth EUR40 million of investments. (Zawya, Al Alam Al Youm)
