Agriculture Ministry to gradually remove barley subsidy, seeking alternative
The Ministry of Agriculture is working on finding a substitute for barley and improve in efficiency of spending on the commodity, in coordination with related authorities, as per the guidance of the Council of Ministers in a meeting held yesterday. The directive is also seeking to gradually remove subsidies for the crop, among others. The Ministry of Agriculture is required to report its findings within 90 days that should include a scheme for support for livestock breeders. (Argaam)
