Abu Dhabi imposes new tax on hotels

Abu Dhabi has imposed a 4% municipality tax and AED15 charge per night, on hotel bills in Abu Dhabi. The fees will be collected by the Abu Dhabi Tourism and Culture Authority. Hotels in the city already charge a city tax of 6% and a 10% service charge. Four million guests stayed in Abu Dhabi hotels in 2015 (+18% Y-o-Y), which was spread over 12 million nights. The potential revenue from the new fees, based on those figures, are estimated at USD122 million. (Arabian Business)
